NO. There is a federal law called the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act that protects consumers. IF a remote start we install causes damage the dealer can prove, we fix it in house and if needed, take it to the dealer. We know your vehicle is important to you and we want it operating correctly. Remote starts get blamed A LOT and I am very proactive with the dealers and proving/fixing issues. For every remote start that gets blamed for an issue, its only actually the issue about 1 in 10 times. (We see lots and lots of things plugged into the OBD2 port that cause battery draws). We use a t harness whenever possible to help mitigate how invasive remote starts are. Many remote starts are 100% plug and play, meaning we don’t cut or splice any wires. Most remote start brands are owned by 1 of 2 companies. VOXX owns Viper, Code, Python, Avital, Autostart, Astrostart and dozens of others. Firstech owns or partners with Compustar, Arctic Start and iDatastart. What is best for your Subaru may not be best for your Chevrolet. Sometimes one brand has solutions the other doesn’t. We like to pick what’s best for each install but realize some people have brand loyalty or want to stick with their brand of smartphone control and that’s fine most of the time.

New diesels are smart and don’t care what we ask of them as far as a wait to start, they start when they’re ready. Older diesels we set for a 7 second wait to start. If we set them too long, they can cool back off, especially Rams with the grid heaters.

Power locks are not an additional charge and if the vehicle is equipped with them from the factory, we will hook them up to the remote start. This is done via data on almost all newer vehicles which means a module controls the locks through the CAN circuit. Yes, we can add aftermarket power door locks to most vehicles that did not come with them from the factory.

Range is rated at maximum line of sight and you will never get the stated range. A good rule of thumb is to cut down to between ¼ and ½ of the rated range. Buildings, walls, even fog will reduce range.

A 1 way remote start sends a signal from your remote to your vehicle without any feedback. A 2 way remote start gets feedback to the remote so you know if the doors locked/unlocked, the vehicle started, and if you get an alarm capable unit, it will let you know that the alarm went off.

If you have a vehicle with an automatic transmission that isn’t on a Euro platform, odds are very good the price listed works. Some vehicles require a more expensive part for install including some newer Mazda, Subaru and new GM push to starts. If idatalink.com shows a part called 'ACC-RFID1', it will have an additional charge. Some new Chrysler products also take a more expensive module. 99% of remote starts that aren’t European platform vehicles are done at the listed price. Our goal is for our listed price to be the price as often as possible, we do not want to charge extra if we can help it.
